Be Fierce
Lessons from the Lion's Gate Portal
Recently I had the pleasure — well, pleasure may be a strong word — of caring for a cat named Mango while her owner was out of town. Mango is almost 15 and is a rescue from the animal shelter. Mango is very set in her ways and did not like it one bit when her mom decided to take a well-deserved vacation.
Mango would approach as soon as I walked in. She would sniff me and then alternated between meowing and hissing as she registered her complaints. She didn’t like that I wasn’t her mom. She hated that I was touching her food. She thought the treats I offered were certainly laced with poison.
Mango is an intense kitty to say the least, but deep down I know she is also a good kitty who just wants to be loved like we all do.
One thing is clear. Mango knows what she wants and is not afraid to say it. Mango got me thinking about empowerment. As someone who tries to learn from the rhythms of nature and live in alignment with the moon, it is no surprise that Mango came into my life on the last new moon on August 4th and stayed present through the Lion’s Gate portal on August 8th.
I had not heard of the Lion’s Gate Portal until it was upon us. I am not trained in astrology. I am learning bit by bit as I go. I have come to understand the Lion’s Gate Portal as an intense astrological event that makes manifestation much more powerful and targeted to help us live into our soul’s purpose. It’s time to ask the Universe for what you REALLY want.
The Lion’s Gate Portal is a heart-centered energy focused on the soul’s empowerment. It embodies courage, strength, and self-expression grounded in unconditional love. It is a soul level manifestation energy.

Post Lion’s Gate, we are now at a crossroads. It is time to show up and DO THE WORK to bring your soul’s calling to reality. Are you ready to step up and take action?
Doing the work can look like:
Showing up for your craft by making time to work on your art.
Carving out time for prayer, meditation and spiritual self-care.
Becoming a fierce advocate for your own healthcare and/or the care of a loved one.
Investing in education and training for personal/professional development.
Finally writing the book, the song, the poetry that has been locked away waiting for “someday.”
Launching a new business, side hustle, or passion project.
Making a commitment to show up as the best version of you - whatever that means.
It is not about pushing, striving, forcing or flexing. It is about making a commitment to stop playing small and step into the person you know you are meant to be. It’s time to be brave, ask for what you want and have the courage to do the work to get it.
It’s time to take up space and be seen for the divine being you were created to me.
Our systems are broken. We need a new way of being in the world that is heart centered and fierce. It is possible to be both. In fact, that’s where the magic happens. It creates a level of intensity that allows you to show up as your best self and live a life you love in alignment with your soul’s calling.
Doing this deep soul level work is hard stuff. A little intensity, fire and passion is necessary to keep going. There will be days when you will need to dig deep because you want to give up and take the easy route. Listen to your body, rest when you need to but don’t lose focus on what you were put on this earth to do. This is important work that only you can do.
My invitation to you is to be fierce. Lead from your heart center. Make a commitment to show up and do the work every single day even - and especially - when it’s hard, you don’t think it matters and you haven’t seen the results of your efforts - yet.

Forget about what your mom wants, what society says you should do, or what your partner wants. Focus on what YOU want. What do you really want at the soul level? Then, consider what action steps you can take to get there.
Determine how you will stay accountable to your commitments. Is there someone in your life you can lean on when times get shaky?
